TukTuk (Ayutthaya) A short trip in the city center costs 20 baht by tuk tuk or songthaew. From the bus terminal at the Highway the fare to the city is 60 baht. Motorcycle rickshaw costs 10-30 baht. A sightseeing program of the widely spread out places of interest in the historic Ayutthaya will take about a day by tuk tuk or songthaew. Tours cost about 200 baht per hour. Most of the drivers who try to get customers at the railway station or the bus terminals have not much information. It is better to get recommendation for a driver from your guesthouse. Elephant Camp Ayutthaya (Ayutthaya) Elephants with costumed mahouts are in the Elephant Camp, in the developed eastern part of Rama Park. They attract mainly Japanese tourists to bring them to the Old Place and Wat Phra Ram. It seems quite romantic to visit the central temples on the back of an elephant and it helps the ma¬houts to feed their animals, but you will not go very far - 20 minutes cost 400 baht. Bicycle for Rent (Ayutthaya) Bicycle rental in guesthouses for 30-50 baht per day and at the tourist police for 50 baht per day. A beautiful cycling tour leads from the old town westwards and then to the south to Wat Chai Wattanaram, the ruins of a large temple complex with many Prangs built in Khmer style. Continue along the river to the southeast, just before Wat Phanan Choeng you can cross the river with a ferry. Be aware of thieves who steal bags from bicycle baskets. It is also recommended to visit the temples which are located further away only in groups. We have heard of mugging and cheating, where tourists have lost money. Tour Counter >>
