From TripAdvisor: our room was made up every day. The staff were really friendly. We found the hotel to be a little bit of luxury on a backpacker budget! Lovely furnishing and a great bathroom, the shower was separated off from the rest, it was nice not getting the whole bathroom wet for once. The hotel is nice and central, close to the weekend market and other daily markets.
From TripAdvisor: The rooms were decorated nicely, very Thai. Air conditioning was placed close to the beds, (free) WiFi signal was strong throughout, OK selection of English/French TV channels, mattresses a bit stiff but not bad, and clean bathrooms. There is a small supermarket across the street. Breakfast isn't included but they offer free coffee and cake until 9am I think. As with all hotels near the train station it can be noisy from the night market, but calms down almost totally after 11 or so, personally I think it makes for a nice atmosphere.
Since Sri Trang and Ban Aothong are so similar, and easily the two best places to stay in Trang, go with whatever one is cheaper. If they're the same price, I'd give a slight advantage to Sri Trang.

Most travelers agree that the Sri Trang is like a home, not especially clean, quite noisy until 23 hours and from 6 in the morning, and it has very hard mattresses. The receptionist is considered very friendly and helpful. The location right next to the train station, near restaurants and travel offices makes it a very convenient hotel.

The Watana Hotel located in the center of town near Koh Teng hotel and Trang trian station. Convenient for travel they have a car park. The hotel is opposite the mini mart which is opened 24 hours.They have 44 rooms, prices start from 350-850 baht all year. Rooms are clean and large. All rooms have complete amenities such as TV., WiFi, fan or air-conditioning and clean despite looking a bit old. On the ground floor there is a Karaoke bar very popular with the Thai guests.The staff here are very friendly.

The PJ Guesthouse is located 200 m. to the right of Trang train station. The building has 3 floors with 8 simple rooms with shared bathrooms. Prices start from 200 - 350 baht. Rooms in front have window with a view, other rooms look on to a corridor, roof top terrace available. The PJ Guesthouse is clean. The atmosphere is cozy and familiar from Mrs. Joy or Mr. Pong. My Friend Guest House is located 300 m to the south, that is right of Trang railway station. My Friend Guest House is a three floor town house. It has modern style rooms, comfortable with TV, air conditioning and warm water. Some rooms have no window. Car parking is available at the front side of the guest house. Free Coffee and cake in the morning and the roof top has the hanging of washing up. The guest house looks clean, the staff is friendly. My Friend Guest House offers 35 rooms starting from 550 up to 1200 Bath.

Located in a corner of the train station's parking lot, just off Sathani Road, My Friend offers a tropical escape from the asphalt and noise of the town. The owners have really made an effort at creating an inviting atmosphere -- there are colourful batik prints in all the rooms, seashell-covered mirrors in the bathrooms, and even wooden dugongs posed in aquariums throughout the hotel. OK, it's a little over the top -- but with clean, modern rooms and comfy beds, we doubt you'll mind. All rooms have air-con, hot water showers, cable TV and fridges. There's an internet cafe downstairs and WiFi is free. The down side here is that little English is spoken and staff could be friendlier, but for the money My Friend is a solid choice.

The facilities of Thumrin Thana hotel a beautiful pool, restaurant and buffet breakfast with a lot of choice of Thai food, the great bakery and coffee shop at the ground floor, and a pub with a live band.
