Boon Piya Resort is located 50 m off the main road, in the center of Khuraburi town. The concrete bungalows have striking blue roofs and they are set in three rows, placed fairly close together in a tropical garden. The rooms are equipped with standard amenities such as air-conditioning, hot shower, TV. Khun Panich, the friendly owner, speaks good English. He can help with tickets and trips and rents motorcycles as well.

Khuraburi On Sea Resort is located outside of the town at the southern end. It offers very clean row houses, parking is available just beside them, not a no-tell motel. The rooms are equipped with a large screen TV as well as some furniture. The bathroom is very clean and sufficiently large, the water is slightly warm.
The German Marine Restaurant has neither something to do with Germany nor with the Marine. It occasionally has karaoke on the weekends, but this cannot be heard inside the rooms.

Kura Rean Thai Resort is also called Kura Ruen Thai on its website. And, on H4, there is a signboard with "Kura Reanthai". Even though the resort offers a 24-hour service, it is peaceful and very quiet, situated along a light trafficked countryside road. It consists of nine very clean bungalows, equipped with TV and hot water shower as well as a small terrace overlooking the garden and the yard. The main building houses the small restaurant.
At the other side of the road there is a small local garden restaurant.

The new Kuraburi Resort is situated 100 m from the highway next to the river. The 10 small bungalows are new, clean and very quiet, 5 have a fan, the other 5 are air-conditioned. The garden is just planted and needs to grow.

The Nang Nuan is a typical motel located on both sides of a narrow road. The restaurant opens only in the evenings and offers Karaoke as well. A fan room costs only 250 Baht and an aircon room 350 Baht -- nothing to complain about for this price. The manageress speaks even English.

The Tararin River Hut features four wooden bungalows overlooking the river and ten rooms located in a new row house about 20 meters from the river. The huts are slightly old, sparsely and simply furnished, but equipped with a TV and a small balcony with view to the river. A restaurant is also situated right at the river offering beautiful views. Tararin River Hut is about 40 meters from the main road.

Wutchai Guesthouse is situated in a recently constructed building, not directly at the highway, but behind another building though easily accessible. The guesthouse provides many roofed parking places which are locked at night. Therefore, it is an ideal accommodation for traveling salesmen. A hair dresser, a beauty salon and an internet shop are on the ground floor.

Ban Khun Ta Resort is located on the quiet side road H2002, about 200 m from highway H4. The village Ban Khun Ta lies about 20 km south of Khuraburi. The owners offer various activities, e.g. an island tour to Koh Phra Thong and excursions with a fishing boat. Internet and a mini mart are available.
A local restaurant is situated at the other side of the road and offers cheap food and live music once in a while.
The paved road H2002 leads in 17 km to the pier opposite of Koh Phra Thong.

The Camp Resort on Thung Nang Dam Island is a unique tent resort in the south of Thailand. The tents are set up 5 metres from the sandy beach under huge casuarina trees. These tents are true 3-star tents with a sleeping room and a separate sitting room in front, from where there is a fantastic view of the sandy beach, the Andaman Sea and Koh Ra Island further to the left. The rooms are well equipped with mats on the floor, very comfortable thick mattresses, some nice and cozy furnishings and a good fan. The doors consist of zipped mosquito screens. The sitting room is very comfortable and nice to look at.
Sanitary rooms are 40 meters back behind the restaurant building. Food is served under a large roof from natural material. This food is a reason already to come to The Camp Resort. The dinners are a sensation in itself: seafood in quantities that nobody is able to finish, in a quality that could compete with any famous seafood restaurant in the south, served with a warmth of character that makes your heart to really enjoy the meal.
All guests to whom we spoke were full of praise for this dinner, but also for the breakfast and the slightly smaller lunch.
Listening to all this praise (that we fully share from our own experience) makes us almost forget the other facilities that the resort has to offer. These are swimming in the sea, walking along an absolutely lonely beach, collecting big seashells, walking through the pristine nature of the island, riding mountain bikes to the farthest corners, kayaking in the sea, and taking a guided boat trip around the island visiting fish and crab farms.
In the package the transfer from Khuraburi bus station to the island and back is included.
In a two day package a trip to the Surin Islands can be arranged at self cost.
Diving and snorkeling in the north of Koh Ra is possible but not recommended as the currents tend to be too strong creating a less than acceptable visibility.

Koh Ra Ecolodge consists of 6 very basic but beautiful huts next to the jungle or mangroves and near the beach. All rooms have balconies, rooms with 3 beds are larger. The meals are eaten together buffet style as a social event, they are delicious and very fresh.
Activities are bird watching in the morning and kayaking. There are volunteers who offer yoga in the beachside sala and take part in reef check and turtle raising.
The sandy beach is beautiful and suitable for swimming any time. The jetty is a few hundred meters away where there is snorkeling possible but not really good.
Lory, who formerly took care of a resort on neighbouring Koh Phrathong, and her team now take good care of their guests in Koh Ra Ecolodge.
What is Eco about this lodge? It blends nicely within the environment and is hardly visible from the outside. Lifestyle is simple without modern amenities. A resort for solitude and serenity although the noise of fishing boats passing in the early morning can be disturbing. The beach is left to nature and not cleaned for tourists.

Koh Ra Beach Camp is a tented camp on the west coast of Koh Ra Island. It is surrounded by beautiful jungle, mangrove forest and a beach with fine sand. The camp is reached from Khuraburi Pier by long tail boat on a 40 minute trip reaching the east coast. From there a path leads past the mangroves for 40 minutes through the island to the camp on the west coast.
The Camp offers many nature oriented activities like jungle trekking, night trekking, mangrove exploration, snorkeling, kayaking, bird watching, and fishing. Visitors may also take part in ecological projects like organic farming, solar lighting, and recycling.

Mr. Chuois Huts and Bar are situated near the beach at the northern end of Golden Buddha Beach, far away from any other tourist business. There is a beautiful view of the twin islands Koh Pling and Koh Pho Ta, both of which are very good snorkeling sites. The huts are made in the traditional way from natural material. The host, Mr. Chuoi, speaks excellent English as he has been travelling extensively in Europe. He takes very good care of his guests and keeps the huts in good shape. In addition Mr. Chuoi has a reputation of being an excellent cook.

Phra Thong Bay Bungalows are a new small bungalow village on a very beautiful beach. There are 6 bungalows located right next to the beach with view of the two small islands. Five bungalows are made from wood and bamboo mats, they have a private bath, large balconies and electric power, they cost 750 Baht per night. One family deluxe bungalow costs 1500 Baht per night. There is also a beach side restaurant and a chill-out bar.

The seafood in the restaurant is served fisherman style, in the bar cocktails and beer are available. Tom and Am Tour have their office in the center of Khura Buri beside the highway. They arrange daily boat service to Surin Islands for 1300 Baht per person by big boat (= slow boat) and 1600 Baht by speedboat. The tour agents of Khuraburi have agreed to use only one boat per day if there are not enough passengers for more boats, mostly the boat of Sabina Tour makes the trip.

Thung Nang Dam Island is separated by mangrove lined canals from the mainland of Khuraburi district. On this 6 km long and 3 km wide island exists only one resort, The Camp Resort.

Thung Nang Dam Island is a very natural island with many unusual plants, large birds and a varied wildlife. The sandy Khuraburi Beach extends for 6 km along the western side of the island. The eastern half of the island is mangrove forest. In the center of the island extends a large pool with drinking water constructed lately by the authorities. On the agricultural lands in the center of Thung Nang Dam Island the locals grow fruit trees such as Rambutan, Longkong, Mangkut, as well as Banana and Papaya plants. Every household grows local orchids. The Andaman-On-Sea Foundation has started a home-stay program for the villagers.
With the start of the year 2012 a new era begins on Thung Nang Dam Island: electricity comes to the island. This has resulted in all houses being renovated such that they are suitable for electric light. Also the first families that had left the island have started to return for living on the island.
In the center of the island the framework for a Chinese temple has been erected. A large temple is going to be constructed here.
The next era of Thung Nang Dam Island will begin with the construction of a bridge to the island in a couple of years.

Thung Nang Dam Island is the northernmost island of Phang Nga Province near the shore. On most maps the island is drawn as part of the main land. The island is separated from the main land by mangrove lined canals.

Koh Ra-Koh Phra Thong National Park is approximately 642 sq km consisting of large parts of four islands at the Andaman coast in Phang Nga province.

Koh Ra is a mountainous island and has long sandy beaches. There is a perfect shallow coral reef. Koh Phra Thong is a habitat for various kinds of fauna, animals and birds such as deer, boar, hornbill, lesser adjutant, etc.
Dugongs can often be seen as they have a source of food due to the rich seaweed here.

Due to its history it is called Koh Yipun (Japanese Island) by the locals. Koh Phra Thong has a level forest area divided by a canal. Sea turtles crawl up the beach to lay their eggs on the eastern side of the island from November to the end of December.
Koh Ra-Koh Phra Thong National Park is located in the Districts Khura Buri and Takua Pa; to the east is a coastal mangrove forest adjacent to the mainland.
Also there is some bungalow accommodation available in the northern half.

Sri Phang Nga National Park is a very beautiful Park, which covers Amphoe Khura Buri and Amphoe Takua Pa and is situated 100 kilometers from Phang Nga town. The park was established in honor of His Majesty the King on his 60th birthday.
