The Dive Paradise of Koh Tao
Many beautiful coral reefs and rock formations are situated in the immediate surroundings of Koh Tao with more than 100 different species of corals. The waters which are abundant in fish have been declared a protected zone that is effectively controlled. Therefore many reef inhabitants as well as turtles, dolphins, whales and even whale sharks can be watched. The first dive in the clear water is sure to be fun.
It is no wonder that 3 dozen  dive centers operate on the island. They operate with their own or a rented boat (up to 50 divers per boat) to 25 dive sites which offer a wide variety of impressive experiences for dive beginners.

Some dive experts may not feel comfortable among the crowds of dive students.
For the protection of the reefs 50 mooring buoys have been installed for the dive boats to anchor.
From January to May the visibility is 25–35 m, during the rest of the year 15–20 m.
Diving season is all year round except during rainy season from October to mid-December. In April and May it is dry and hot. From May to July the dive schools organize dive excursions to see whale sharks, the largest fish on earth.
