For diving related emergencies contact the Badal Veda Diving Medicine Network, Tel. 081-0905372 (Steve). They are situated in Sairee Village at the main road (Koh Tao Physician Clinic next to Sairee Plaza).
They have 24-hour service for minor accidents, oxygen therapy and evacuation service.

Badalveda was formed in 2002 by a group of physicians and nurses specialized in diving medicine. Badalveda provides a comprehensive health service for divers administered through their network of Diving Medicine Centers located at major diving spots in Thailand. The services range from educational programs which promote internationally approved diving safety courses and 24 hr emergency recompression treatment facilities for divers who may be experiencing symptoms of decompression illness to full service, world class, hospital based diagnostic services and Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment Centers for approved non-diving related illness.

Badalveda provides a comprehensive range of medical services for divers ranging from ‘fitness to dive’ physical examinations to timely and professional treatment of diving accidents and illnesses like barotrauma, wounds, infection and decompression illnesses. Their most important service is Hyperbaric Chamber Stand-By in the event of emergency situations, to ensure that every diver with diagnosed symptoms of DCI is safe and that they receive the appropriate professional treatment as quickly as possible for the best result, without residual symptoms.

When you see a doctor for an ailment he will directly sell you the necessary medicine for a cheap price.
But for many diseases patients just go to the nearest pharmacy where there is well-educated staff that can help with medicines and in most cases the prices are considerably lower than at home.
The pain reliever Paracetamol costs just a few Baht.
A few pills of Decolgen, 4 for 10 Baht. Helps in many cases to fend off the outbreak of the common flu.

Opticians

Optical shops with a wide selection of glasses and soft contact lenses have well educated staff to take care of eye problems. Despite the frames and glasses coming from reputed companies in Europe, the prices for a pair of glasses are considerably lower than at home.
Watch out for special offers like "Two-for-the-price-of-One", they can be a real bargain.

Top Charoen Optical has shops all over Thailand.
Their staff will help you everywhere if you have a problem with one of their products.

Massage Services

Massage is available in all towns and along the beaches. The widest practiced massage is traditional Thai massage. Most masseurs and masseuses have a certificate that they attended a massage class in a reputed massage school, the best of which is supposed to be Wat Pho in Bangkok. In some establishments the massage staff are also called massage therapists.
