National Museum Khon Kaen


The National Museum located in the northeast of Khon Kaen city displays a variety of prehistoric finds. They have been discovered during excavations near Ban Chiang and in other places in the provinces of Kalasin and Mahasarakham. Tools and other objects which were used by the Isan people for weaving, fishing and rice cultivation are shown to the rear of the ground floor. The upper floor houses Buddhist and Hindu statues, among them a beautiful Shiva (with the third eye on his forehead) and a four-armed Vishnu (without the head) made of sandstone.
Open form Wednesday to Sunday from 9 h–12 h and 13 h–17 h, entrance fee 30 baht.
