Nan

The small kingdom of Nan was founded in the 13th century. Until 1931 it was a semi-sovereign kingdom. The capital of the province is also called Nan. The city centers along the banks of the river. Nan slowly develops some kind of tourism industry. It is mostly the start for those who want to do trekking and those who want to explore Thailand off the beaten track. The most important temple in the city center, Wat Phumin was built 1596 and is nicely renovated.   More temples can be explored in and around the city.

The view from Wat Phra That Khao Noi is stunning and is about 2 kms West of the city. The Museum in the city center is worth a visit. It is situated in a palace built in 1903.

This province is currently under research - further information to follow soon.
