Koh Adang

The lush green island lies 40 km west of Koh Tarutao. Steep, up to 700-meter tall mountains make it difficult to explore the interior of the island. Steep trails lead to the waterfalls, whose pool invite for a bath, but swimming is not possible. Tourists hardly want to spend 400 Baht for visiting this island. You can reach Koh Lipe easily by longtail boat. If you are lucky enough, you can spot hornbills, sea eagles, deer, wild bore, monkeys, snakes or butterflies.

Koh Adang - Attractions

John Salad Waterfall can be reached in one hour from Koh Adang Resort, or in just half an hour from the right place on the beach (the taxi boat can stop there), the trail is quite good in the beginning, later more difficult to access. To reach Rattana Waterfall you walk for 20 minutes along the stream. From the view point you have a spectacular view over the islands. About 15 minutes from the ranger station a long white sandy beach and crystal clear water with corals and tropical fish invites for relaxing and snorkeling. Even a shower has been installed here. Around the island and near the neighboring islands there are still many intact coral reefs. Apart from many fish you can see rare microorganism such as the beautiful feather duster worms.
There is no diving equipment for rent. Rental of mask and snorkel is available at the ranger station. Two villages are situated on the island.
Accommodation and food
Koh Adang Resort
The camp has developed into a resort with beautiful bungalows. Partitioned rooms in the renovated longhouse for 200 Baht, bungalows for 600 Baht. Tents for 200 Baht right on the beach; mattress for 50 Baht per day.
At times there is no food available on Koh Adang. It is advisable to bring own supplies. The only restaurant serves tasty food, but usually only on weekends there is a large choice of dishes.
Transportation
From Pakbara daily via Tarutao during high season. More boats see at “Koh Lipe”.
Attention: The boats stop between Koh Lipe and Koh Adang. From there the tourists have to transfer to longtail boats (50 Baht), which continue either to Koh Lipe or to Koh Adang. From Koh Lipe you can reach the island by taxi boat for 50 Baht. It stops at the ranger station. Most of the time there are several other longtail boats that are available for charter.
