By Train

Historically almost all trains to Chumphon arrive in the night and thus depart to Bangkok in the night, too.
If you book a sleeper you can sleep quite comfortably and save on accommodation.
Most travellers arrive in Bangkok relaxed and are ready for the sights and attractions of the new day.
If your destination is south of Hua Hin, better take a bus.
