Buses come to Khao Lak from many destinations between Bangkok (Krungthep) in the center of Thailand and Hat Yai in the far south. All direct transport to Khao Lak is by road.

The most common means of transport are air con buses on Petchkasem Highway H4, mainly buses from Phuket to Bangkok and back.
The main local bus company is Rungkit Tour with up to 7 air con buses Bus758 daily between Chumphon and Phuket.
The Transport Co. operates buses between Phuket and Takua Pa as well as Phuket and Surat Thani.

To various tourist destinations in the south there are also air con minibuses or air con minivans leaving Khao Lak at 8 am and 11 am in the morning. They depart from those destinations at about the same time and reach Khao Lak
in the afternoon.

To the north:

Bus465 from Phuket to Surat Thani

The Transport Co. operates the Bus465 between Phuket and Surat Thani. Two buses are airconditioned (blue bus), the others have no aircon (red bus).

Bus from Bangkok
From the Southern Bus Terminal Sai Tai in Bangkok depart all kind of air con buses to Khao Lak, either heading to Phuket or to Phang Nga. The buses from Bangkok stop according to the wishes of passengers.

Takua Pa buses
All the buses in this bus table are passing through Khao Lak (except the buses via Kapong).
Therefore in Khao Lak a bus in either direction can be expected every 45 minutes or so, starting at about 7.15 hours in the morning.
They stop on demand along the highway at various bus salas and in front of 7Eleven in Bang Niang and next to Nang Thong Supermarket.

Dieser 7eleven an der Abzweigung zum Bang Niang Beach ist DAS Landmark von Bang Niang. Es gibt gewiss niemanden, der in diesem 7eleven noch nicht eingekauft hat. Er ist immer belebt, auch mitten in der Nacht. Die Preise sind sehr angemessen wie in ganz Thailand, und immer gibt es Sonderangebote, denen man nur schwer widerstehen kann. Die Auswahl an Säften und Milchprodukten ist ungewöhnlich gross. Fertiggerichte kann man sich jederzeit in der Mikro oder im Grillofen heiss machen lassen. Das Personal ist zumeist freundlich und zu einem Spass aufgelegt.
