From Ao Nam Mao to Ao Luk



This route takes you through small villages where you can see country life and some National Parks on your way.

Rents for motorbikes start at 180 Baht per day, depending on the duration of the lease. Cars start at 1.000 Baht per day.The car rentals are located at the airport. You can find Avis, Budget and Hertz as well as local companies such as Krabi Car Rent. Cars can also be rented with a chauffeur if you do not want to drive yourself.  Most Travel Agencies also rent motorbikes or just ask at the front desk of your accommodation.

Keep right at the big roundabout until you get to the t-junction with  H4034. Turn right on H4043 a PTT petrol station is on your right. Continue until the first traffic light, a  Shell Gasoline Station is on your left, take a left and follow the Highway H4 to Phuket. At KM108 you turn right and follow the signs to Phanom Bencha National Park. You will reach the entrance with the visitor center after 18 kilometers. You can walk the Nature Trail, it takes about 45 - 60 minutes or you can take a dip in the Huay To Waterfall.

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park (Khao Phanom Bencha National Park) (Krabi)

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park covers a total area of 31,325 rai. The summit rises 1.397 m above sea level and is the highest mountain in Krabi.

Its stunning scenery is enhanced by streams, waterfalls, caves, and wild animals. In addition several beautiful waterfalls and caves containing vast quantities of stalagmites and stalactites are located within the park. Huai To Waterfall, approximately 500 meters from the headquarters, flows over rocks into 11 huge pools.

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park is located approximately 20 km north of Krabi Town, follow H1016 until you reach the headquarters.



From Khao Phanom Bencha you take the same road back until you get to H4. Turn right and follow the Highway until you reach Ao Luk Junction. Here you find a Tesco Lotus, some restaurants along the road and markets. Just before Ao Luk you turn left on H4039 and you can visit Than Boke Khorani National Park where a river runs through a natural grotto and is surrounded by a nice park. Food stalls at the entrance.
Instead of taking the Highway H4 to Ao Luk, why don´t you take the rural roads to Ao Luk? Exit Phanom Bencha and take a right on H4. After approximately 12 kms you can see the turning with H1003, turn left here and follow this road straight ahead, after 5 kms it is named H4011. At the next t-junction take a left to Baan Ao Luk Noi. pass the mosque and take another left on H4010. Follow this road until it takes you to H4. Turn left on H4 and continue your journey.


Than Boke Khorani National Park (อุทยานแห่งชาติธารโบกธรณี) (Krabi)

Than Boke Khorani National Park covers an area of 37.5 rai. The Park is covered by a diverse canopy of various species of tree, such as wild gardenia, Asoka, and Apocynaceae that are scattered around Sa Boke Khorani.

At the north end of Sa Boke Korani, which flows through a winding passage in the mountain, is a wood carving of Lord Buddha's footprint and a shrine of Chao Pho To Yuan - To Chong. Other attractions in the park include several limestone mountain caves, verdant mangrove forests and beautiful islands which can be reached only by boat. Admission fee for adults and children are 200 and 100 baht per person. The Park does not provide accommodation, but camping in the park is allowed although tourists have to bring their own tents. You then follow H4039 until you get to Laem Sak. Along the roads you see the rural life of Southern Thailand. Rubber Plantations, small farm houses and pineapple fields. The closer you get to the shore the more mangroves you will see.

At the end of the road is a small restaurant where you can have Thai food and refreshments.
You take the same road back, turn right on H4,  then take another right on H4033, that leads you to Nong Thale, take a right on H4034.  This road takes you through more picturesque scenery and rural Krabi. You will see friendly people waving at you, children bathing in ponds, small temples and shrines as well as mosques. Turn right at the PTT and H4204 will take you back to the big roundabout in Ao Nam Mao.
