Wat Kaeo Ku

The Hindu-Buddhist temple complex Wat Kaeo Ku is also called Sculpture Park. This new and magnificent temple stands amidst hundreds of flower pots and beside bizarre human and animal figures. The statues are up to 20 m high and formed out of concrete:
A snake god which is devouring the terrestrial globe; ten-armed warriors who are holding the cut-off heads of their enemies in their hands; an aggressive pack of dogs which is attacking a peaceful elephant (according to the proverb: ”A just man does not need to care about rumours similar to an elephant about barking dogs.”).
Dogs act like human beings, they drive cars or motor boats, are displayed as market people or with an erect penis, wear glasses and machine guns, read, smoke and drink – a ”parody of the human society”.
Long Pu Bun Lua, who was the founder of the complex, came from Laos in the year 1975. He passed away in 1996. With the figures he intended to refer to the Hindu roots in Buddhism. An absolutely worthwhile trip!

The drawing at Mut Mee Guesthouse is very useful. The best time for shooting photos is during the late afternoon.
Wat Kaeo Ku can be easily reached by motorcycle. On H212 turn right at KM 4.3 (600 m) east of the city, behind St. Paul’s School and opposite the red-golden gate.
Entrance fee 20 baht, bicycle parking 5 baht. By tuk-tuk about 30–40 baht.
