Koh Phangan is an island without an airport, therefore all travellers must leave the island by boat.
The main ferry port on Koh Phangan is Thong Sala on the west coast where boats leave from three major piers to Koh Samui and Surat Thani resp. Koh Tao and Chumphon:
-- Songserm Pier for the Songserm  passenger boat.
-- Raja Pier for the Raja  car and passenger ferry.
-- Lomprayah Pier for the night boat, the Seatran Ferry and the Lomprayah  catamaran.

From the two Haad Rin Piers at Hat Rin West in the south of Koh Phangan the Haad Rin Queen makes four sailings back and forth per day.

From the east coast of Koh Phangan it may be more convenient to take the Thong Nai Pan Express  leaving in the morning from Thong Nai Pan Yai destined for Mae Nam on Koh Samui.

On the main land the main ferry ports are:
-- piers near Chumphon from where busses take travellers directly to Bangkok.
-- Don Sak where the car ferries arrive with connecting busses for all destinations in the South of Thailand and to the train station for Bangkok.
-- Surat Thani where the night passenger boat arrives in the morning so that travellers can take all sorts of transport to all destinations in Thailand.
