Getting around Koh Phangan:Many ways to choose from!
The best way to travel around Koh Phangan is by renting a motorbike, cost around 180-250 Baht a day. However, this option can be risky because Koh Phangan is hilly and the roads have many bends. You must be very careful when you ride around the island.
Every year, many lives are lost here and the number of road accidents is pretty high. We would like to warn you to drive carefully. Driving on the west coast is somewhat better than the east coast.
During the past year the rental fee for motorbikes increased. You may be entitled to special discounts for long term rentals. Make sure you check the condition of your rented motorbike before taking it out of the shop. Take care of your bike, you will be charged if the shop finds any damage.
There are also other options to travel around the island:
Jeep rental: This is the most convenient way to travel around. The rental fee is approximately 800 Baht per day. You must leave 5,000 Baht deposit.
Local Taxi: Another comfortable and affordable way is by taking a local taxi which will cost you from 50-150 Baht depending on the distance. You can always find a local taxi wherever you are.
Motorcycle Taxi: There are motorcycle taxi's around Koh Phangan and it is a comfortable way to get around the island. You must agree the price with the rider before taking it.
Longtail boat: A longtail boat is another popular transportation on Koh Phangan. You can take them from Thong Sala beach or in front of some resorts.
During the Full Moon party night, longtail boats can be found on every beach.
