Koh Phangan's South is where the party is! Everyone knows Hat Rin and this mother of all party places is located on the Southern most tip of the island. Booked out easily around the full moon party, many travellers have to set up camp instead on the long stretch of beach connecting Hat Rin and Thong Sala, Ban Tai and Ban Khai. So around the full moon dates every place from Thong Sala down South will be crowded with party people, as all these places offer a convenient proximity to the party and cheap accommodation. You will also find starter parties in Ban Tai and Ban Khai and many resorts offer shuttle services. In general, the South is the place to be if you are looking to party. All the big parties can be easily reached from here. And Thong Sala is not far either, unless you stay directly in Hat Rin. So all in all, the Southern beaches attract a younger crowd. Many places here are not particularly beautiful, but they serve the purpose. An exception to that would be Ao Hin Lor which is stunning. If you wanna see what the South is about, go walk along the beach. If you go during low tide, you can walk all the way to Hat Rin!
