Good Hope is another older operation along Hat Yuan's rocky southern headland. The bungalows are worn inside and out but are spacious and bright inside with lots of natural light. The bathrooms are large but somewhat nasty, and most units enjoy some pretty funky odours. Scattered along the rocks and the partially-shaded hillside, most huts have great views out to sea and across the bay-best enjoyed from your hammock. A passable budget choice.

Big Blue is the most happening place on Hat Yuan, attracting a lively, younger clientele. The rooms suit most budgets and can accommodate up to four people. The wooden bungalows are clean and comfortable, spread along the hillside garden just off the beach. They offer plenty of activities to keep guests occupied, including the only basketball court in the area (if not the island), as well as beach volleyball, kayaks (50-70B/hour) and other sports equipment. For those who want to relax, sun chairs and a movie lounge in the cosy restaurant are good places to flop for a while. With a gift shop and mini mart, they seem to have it all here. A fun choice and good value.
