Typical Prices for Tourists

During our first journey to Thailand in 1986 we paid for a typical Thai Curry with Rice 30 to 40 Baht. Today we get for the same price still a Plate of Rice (lad kao) with two curries, and water free of charge in a local restaurant.
25 years ago we got about 15 Baht for 1 DM (Deutsche Mark), in September 2011 we get for 1 Euro (= 2 DM) over 40 Baht. Taking into consideration that the average income of a European at least doubled in these 25 years, Thailand has become quite a bit cheaper for Europeans.
Due to our higher comfort level nowadays we certainly pay more money today than as a backpacker 25 years ago.
