Surat Thani
means “City of Good People” the name given by King Rama VI in 1915. It is a well known tourism province because of the amazingly beautiful nature which is perfect for travelling and exploring.

There are many islands such as Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Koh Nang Yuan, and Koh Ang Thong. The rain forests have various kinds of plants, rivers, and wild animals.

It is a very convenient place to travel to with many different types of transportation such as two airports, train station, local buses as well as boats.

It has become one of the most popular tourist destinations on the gulf coast of south Thailand.




>>> Surat Thani is the largest province in the south of Thailand covering 12,891 square km. Surat Thani Province has the sixth largest population in Thailand with around 1,012,000 people.
It  has a large variety of attractions ranging  from amazing limestone  mountains and Islands to river plateaus and rain forests. The center of the province is located around the coastal plains of the Tapi River which is covered in grassland with coconut plantations and rubber plantations. 
In the west you have amazing limestone mountains surrounded by forests. The Khao Sok National Park  is located in these mountains.
It is believed that Surat Thani was inhabited by Semang and Malayan tribes from the 3rd century until the 13th century, the city Chaiya contains many ruins from the Srivijaya times and was probably a capital of the kingdom in the past. The  Kingdom  was divided into three Cities Chaiya,  Kanchanadit, and Khiri Ratnikhom.
"Surat" is the short nick name for Surat Thani province
