A small, nice provincial town located at the southern end of a large bay, 27,000 inhabitants. Many brightly-colored fishing boats are anchoring in the natural harbor that seems to be circular because of towering limestone formations and rocky offshore islands. A very picturesque place, but it is not suitable for swimming. That can be done at either Ao Manao or Ao Noi immediately south or north of the town. The road along the coast has been upgraded into a coastal promenade with a chain of lanterns for 2 km. In the evenings food stalls serving excellent seafood here. Prachuap is inhabited by very nice people who are not accustomed to the few tourists and who hardly speak any English. Apart from that, this nice town does not offer enough attractions to accommodate tourists for a longer period of stay.
