The Baan Khaolak Resort is located right on the beach and features a restaurant and bar near the outdoor pool. Three exclusive beachfront villas and six seaview villas with all amenities and comfort are the highlights in this resort. The rooms situated in the hotel buildings offer the same standards at lower rates. All rooms come with private balcony, bathroom with hot shower, hairdryer and cable TV. A minibar and a safety box are provided.
Other services include massage, fitness center, conference room, transport, library and internet as well as free parking.
The Baan Khao Lak Resort received the award as being the best resort in Thailand for handicapped people. 10 rooms are equipped for them.

The small Sita Garden is a summer cottage arrangement located directly on the beach. 5 attractive small houses (ranging from 2400-2800 Baht) with fan and aircon, tastefully decorated, shower/WC, kitchenette, large terrace with sea view, 4 bungalows with 3rd bed or separate children's room with bunk bed. Committed German owner, no hotel service, but excellent holiday home service - only once a week the place is getting cleaned, but very properly for two hours! Prior reservation especially for high season is necessary.
There is a new Seaview Room in the second floor of a new building 50 m from the beach. It is well equipped with aircon, fan, warm water shower, fridge and has a balcony with nice seaview -- all this for only 1600 Baht per night for 2 persons.
The special summer rate (July to September) is 1600 Baht per bungalow per night for 2 persons PLUS 300 Baht per night for each child. Sita Garden is bookable for a minimum of 7 nights.
In addition, a seaview room located on the upper floor of a two storey building is available for 1600 Baht.

The new bungalow resort Baan Chong Fa is situated right in the center of the village of Bang Niang, it is surrounded by a tall wall. 9 comfortable and luxuriously furnished bungalows are set in two rows, all are exclusively equipped with very beautiful furniture. Inbetween there is a swimming pool with jacuzzi and several areas for sun bathing. Furthermore, a breakfast restaurant and a salon are available. The resort offers many services such as free bicycles, free transportation in the area of Khao Lak from 9 am to midnight and free internet. Breakfast is included in the room rates which are considered upper price range with 3900 Baht per night. However, at the opening there is a 50 % discount, therefore the rooms are just 1950 Baht.

Takieng Restaurant is situated next to the police-boat Tsunami Memorial in Bang Niang. They serve authentic Thai food, including tom yam and seafood. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff very friendly. The owner is from Uttaradit in the north, so many dishes have a touch of northern food.

Dao Thong Restaurant is located in the center of Ban Bang Niang, right on the main road opposite 7-Eleven. It offers a pleasant ambiance, rustic furnishing, and dining with candle light while you listen to the sounds of water which drowns out the traffic noise. A large and completely illustrated menu features interesting and exceptional Thai and Western dishes. Generous portions are served with very creative decoration. This is a popular restaurant that is frequented by elderly couples. Good value for money, the average price ranges between 100 to 150 Baht.

Song's Bar is situated to the right of Bang Niang market. The Thai-Dutch family moved from the Bang Niang Beach Road back to the market where the music is not disturbing the restaurants and massage shops. The owners and the friendly staff serve a variety of cocktails.
Western, Thai and live music are playing long into the night.

Die fünf- bis sechs-köpfige Band von Num in der Degree Bar spielt für meine laienhaften Ansprüche den besten Thai Rock in ganz Thailand. Erst ab 23 Uhr füllt sich der zur Strasse offene Laden so richtig. An manchen Abenden gehen die Thais mit, dass sich die Tische biegen. Vor allem Frauen jeden Alters tanzen zu den Stücken von Carabao und Job to do, dass der Boden bebt. Da lassen sich sogar die paar alternden Farangs anstecken und tanzen sich in Schweiss. Mit wenigen Baht fuer ein Sprite und einen Teller geröstete Cashews kann man ein paar tolle Stunden erleben. Pünktlich um 2 Uhr nachts wird aufgehört, was die Musiker auch brauchen, die sich da fast ohne Pause in Hochform spielen.
Immer mal wieder sind Gast-Musiker aus anderen Orten Thailands da und bringen einen anderen Sound mit, mal zum Guten, mal eher zum Abwinken. Auch Farangs, die eigentlich ganz bieder aussahen, haben schon mal die Instrumente und den Saal in Stimmung gebracht.
Sollte es mal an einem Abend nicht so funken -- macht nix, einfach wieder kommen.
Hier habe ich noch nie einen Fight erlebt und noch nie Betrunkene die Stimmung verderben gesehen. Auch Gatoeys sieht man hier nie. Allerdings auch nur ganz wenige Touristen, die in Khao Lak eben um diese Zeit schon in der Heia liegen.
