Phu Chi Fah

Phu Chi Fa is a summit in the Doi Pa Mohn mountain range along the Thai-Laos border in Chiang Rai Province. With its spectacular views the area is a well-known area amongst Thais and tourists alike.

The mountainous area is between 1000 and 1600 meters above sea level. The road H1093 slopes through Phu Chi Fa National Park along the Laotian border.
The highest peak, Phu Chi Fah, translates as `finger that points at the sky`. You follow the sign Phu Chi Fah Viewpoint, pass the park headquarters and the road leads you to a parking space where vendors sells shirts, refreshments, hats and socks....Leave the vehicle and climb up to the top of the view point about 1 km.

Close to the Viewpopint Phu Chi Fah the small village Rom Fah Thai at KM 64 has about a dozen accommodations. All bungalow places have been built in the mountains with steep tracks to get to. There are five small restaurants or rather food stalls and three mini markets. The nights can be chilly, in January temperature may drop down to 8 degrees. At KM 69 in Rom Fah Tong some more bungalow places come into sight.

Baan Rai Rom Pho Tong is one of the three bungalow places at KM 62. The restaurant is located on top of the mountain with a nice view over the valley. Tents are available. The bungalows all come with hot shower and TV. Tours to Phu Chi Fa Mountain and to Chiang Rai are organised by Baan Rai Rom Pho Tong.

Phu Sawan Tawan Suai is the second Bungalow Plce of the place named Phusawan in the village of Phu Chi Fa. This bungalow site features a restaurant and bungalows with hot shower and TV.

Most people spend the night in the small village of Rom Fah Thai as it is clower to Phu Chi Fah Viewpoint to watch the sunrise. Early in the mornings you can see people dressed in warm clothes with funny hats, climbing the steep trail to the mountain top and enjoy the sun rise and the view over the Maekhong River still partly covered by the early morning mist.
