Roundtrip Koh Lanta

It is easy to explore Koh Lanta  yourself as the roads were all paved since 2011. You can either rent a motorbike or a small car or jeep to start the tour around the island. If you are not an experienced motorbike driver it is safer to rent a car.

Two suggestions of where to rent a car or bike, you can also ask at the front desk of your accommodation.

Moo 1 Ban Saladan Koh Lanta, Krabi 81150

From Ban Saladan to Mu Koh Lanta National Park

This route takes you from Ban Saladan along Lanta´s West Coast and the beaches down to the National Park. After leaving Saladan you pass Klong Dao Beach, then the road takes you to Phra-Ae also called Long Beach further on towards Klong Khong Beach. Here you realise that traffic gets less and the bustling atmosphere of the northern beaches gives way to a quiet and more relaxed one.
After Klong Khong the road leads along the water until you see the big Rawi Warin Resort on your right hand side. This is the beginning of Klong Nin. Follow the road further down, after the gasoline station and the Seven Eleven on your right take a right turn and the road leads you down and along to Klong Nin Beach passing small resorts and bungalow sites. Kong Nin Beach is ideal for swimming during high and low tide.
After climbing the hill you will find the Diamond Cliff Beach Restaurant, which has a stunning view over a little bay. You can get down to the beach from there. Diamond Cliff View is a perfect place to watch the sun set.
The next village is Kantiang Bay, this is Koh Lanta´s poshest beach. Take your time and visit the Same Same but different restaurant at the end of the beach, they do the best `Chicken Cashew Nuts` on the island and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere to it.

Same Same But Different (เซมเซมบัท ดิฟเฟอเร้นท์) (KantiangBay)

Same Same but Different is located at the south end of Kantiang Bay. It is a lovely beach restaurant with big wooden chairs and unique decorations. The Thai food is excellent and I recommend chicken with cashew nuts. Even though a bit high priced at 180 Baht, it is worth ordering. All food is served in quaint porcelain dishes.

Mu Koh Lanta National Park (สวนเกาะแห่งชาติ) (KohLanta)

Mu Koh Lanta National Park is located at the Southern tip of the island. The National Park is about 134 km2 large and does not only consist of rainforest on the island but also 15 small islands in the Andaman Sea belong to it.
You can find various snakes such as cobras and pythons, small mammals and more than a hundred bird species. A nature trail of 1.7 km goes through the park. However, the entrance fee of 200 Baht per person just for taking a walk is not justified.

From the National Park to Old Town

From the National Park you need to take the same road back to Klong Nin, pass the village and then take a right at the Seven Eleven. The road takes you up the hill to two nice viewpoint restaurants. Enjoy the view over the islands of the East coast and then follow the road down the hill to Lanta Old Town, also called Lanta Pier.
