Thong Lang

Haad Thong Lang means 'deserted golden beach' and this describes the place quite well. The big challenge is to find this beach: Take the road from Mae Haad towards Chaloklum and always keep an eye on the left side. There you will find a small, unpaved road with no sign.

Close to the beach there are a few private houses and one resort with houses for rent. But at the moment there is nothing directly on the beach (July 2015) except a swing tied to a palm tree. So this is a perfect place for people longing for solitude. Or people who like swings...
But make sure you visit Thong Lang during high tide, because only then will you see the beautiful lagoon. During low tide you can walk out quite far, but swimming is almost impossible. 
One bay further there is a beach which is even smaller. Apparently the locals did not even consider the place worth a name. However, they once built a viewpoint which is already about to fall to pieces. 
From the viewpoint you can walk down the many steps to the beach. But don't expect much. It is much too rocky for swimming here and nobody takes away the garbage that is  washed up.

Thong Lang Bay Resort is the only resort at Thong Lang. The bungalows have been built along the hill and are surrounded by a tropical garden. From the bungalows you have a fantastic view of the bay and the ocean. The resort is located far from the street, so it is a great place for peace and quietness. The restaurant serves European and Thai food as well as fresh seafood.

The resort offers a wide range of bungalows which start with bungalows for a lower budget. Some bungalows are built in classic Thai style, some in modern design. All bungalows come with aircon. fridge, hot water, bath tub, cable TV and DVD player.
There is a pool on the viewpoint terrace.
