Khuk Khak Beach is a very beautiful shallow sandy beach to the north of the main Khao Lak beaches. It extends for more than four kilometers from Bang Niang Beach all the way to the river before Pakarang Beach.

There are only three resorts on and near Khuk Khak Beach, the Orchid, Andamania and JW Marriott Resort.There are a few tiny beach restaurants which have sprung up selling simple local fare and drinks. North of the JW Marriott there is a concentration of five or six restaurant/bar/massage places, offering their services for very little money. Just south of the JW Marriott there is a larger restaurant with about 10 tables, a juice bar, a tour counter and two massage huts.


From Bang Niang Beach the lagoon mouth can be crossed on foot without problems at any time.
From the O2 Bar which has a large parking area that is always empty during day time, a bridge leads over the lagoon right to the beach where O2 has established a recreation area for festive evenings.
The third access is the road from Khuk Khak village that ends at the Khaolak Orchid Beach Resort. Where this roads meets the sea the first time, there is a ferry service to the small bar across Khuk Khak River. 500 m further on towards the south the road meets the beach where a parking place is inviting tourists to stroll along the pristine beach.
The fourth access is from the newly asphalted Marriott Road that runs straight to the beach where the one larger beach restaurant attracts customers.
Access number 5 branches to the right immediately before the gate of JW Marriott and reaches the beach area with the concentration of locaol businesses.
Access number 6 is from the Lakeview Resort behind Khuk Khak Temple. This narrow track is suitable for motorcycles and leads to a lonely hut on the beach where in the season a small shop might offer some services like renting deck chairs and selling drinks.
The last access is a gravel road starting right beside Khuk Khak Elephant Camp and running fairly straight to a lonely bay.

The northern half of Khuk Khak Beach has lately been called Marriott Beach. Besides the hotel that was constructed from 1999 until 2008 a number of local restaurants, tour counters and massage huts were erected by people from Khuk Khak. They give the beautiful sandy beach an attractive local flair for which the guests of the JWMarriott Resort are quite thankful.

The extensive local Buddhist Temple of Khuk Khak Village contains all the buildings required for a big Buddhist temple. There are also many interesting statues to admire.

The new Baan Suthawan Resort is situated 1 km from the highway beside the access road to Orchid Beach Resort in a very quiet neighborhood. It has 7 rooms in motel style with a covered parking area. The rooms are large and well equipped with TV, warm water shower and many small accessories. They are also very clean. As usual for a motel the rooms are accessible all day and night. A new multi-storey building has been added lately in the back of the compound.

The new Golden Coconut Resort is situated at the access road to the Marriott Resort, app. one mile from the beach. A few bungalows are built around a lake in a vast coconut plantation. It seems to belong to the same owners as the Green Beach Resort at Nang Thong Beach.

JJ Bungalow is situated opposite of Rawai Muay Thai. The 4 bungalows, the breakfast restaurant and the garden are very well taken care of by Jam. She has free tea and coffee available all day long. Food is served on order only. The bungalows are very clean and well kept, equipped with all modern facilities.

The new Khaolak Blue Lagoon Resort is situated 100 meters from Khuk Khak Beach. The access road to Khaolak Orchid Resort passes between the resort and the beach. The nine Deluxe bungalows and the nine Superior bungalows are built in modern design with all amenities. The rooms have a large bed or two separate beds. They are equipped with aircon and a ceiling fan, refrigerator and minibar, satellite TV, tea and coffee maker, safety deposit boxes, and hair dryer. The bathroom has hot water. The Deluxe bungalows are actually mini-suites with an additional rooom with comfortable sitting furniture. All bungalows are situated another 100 m inland from the reception and restaurant area, between two arms of the lagoon.
The tropical garden is new and well kept.

The Khaolak Relax Resort is far away from everything. Access is by a small gravel road. The owners are from Hungary and have built the resort in the style of their home country, full of many nice details. The manager and staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is very small and only available for the two adjoining rooms. Motorbikes are available for rent.

The Mukhatha Restaurant in Khuk Khak near the petrol station offers the best value for money in the Khao Lak region. All food items are prepared in pots and plates on many tables. The guests select the items they like and take them to their tables. Here the items are placed on a Korean BBQ grill and prepared by themselves according to their taste. The variety in this restaurant is gigantic: many different types of pork, chicken and seafood, many kinds of vegetables, Suki-style Japanese food, various kinds of fried rice and noodles, even an assortment of deserts and ice cream. All this for only 109 Baht per person. If anything is left over at the table, a fine has to be paid. There are at least 60 tables under one roof, and they are always occupied by families or groups of friends.
